Welcome to the January 2006 edition of THE DENTAL CENTRE newsletter. We have been performing many 'Smile Makeovers' since our 'Extreme Makeover' exhibition display. We will devote the next few newsletters to showing you some of the many different solutions available with cosmetic dentistry for you and your friends.
| One of the amazing things I discovered at the Cosmetic Dentistry conference in Vancouver was how to provide clients with Temporary Crowns or Veneers cheaply and easily so they can see and try exactly what they are getting before their final crowns or veneers are made. Adjustments can be made at this time to ensure you are totally delighted. One of the founders of the Extreme Makeover TV program, Dr Bill Dorfman (who performs most of the dental makeovers on the program told me that the 'reveal' to the patients was only temporaries, not the final product. Using this special process, we can make temporaries so flawlessly they look like the 'real thing'. You can wear your 'temporaries' for a few days, to see for yourself how they look and feel, to decide if you would like them changed in any way (e.g. made longer) before your Final Crowns or veneers are made by the laboratory.
Each newsletter I will introduce you to three or four of or 'Smile Makeovers' stories, ordinary people with regular problems and a greatly improved smile.

Penny's centre line change
Penny had a gap between the front teeth where an adult tooth never formed when she was a child. To fill the gap I inserted a bridge, in conjunction with veneers and crowns, to give a more even, natural look changing the centre line of her teeth.

Belinda used to have small teeth and a gummy smile
Belinda used to show quite a lot of gum when she smiled. She also had quite short teeth, which exaggerated her 'gummy smile'. I performed the first surgery of its kind in Australia using a special technique to lower the lip line with minimal trauma to her mouth. This surgery, in conjunction with a 'gum lift' and veneers reduced the appearance of gum when she smiles.
